The architectural proposal, conceived by Miàs Architects, for the occupation of the Agora building in Valencia with a new Caixaforum center, presented two structural challenges:

- The first, the construction of a large oval piece suspended on four pillars that allowed the accommodation of most of the exhibition program

- The second, the construction of an auditorium buried within the footprint of the Agora building itself.

Regarding the materialization of the oval, it should be pointed out that it had three levels or horizontal platforms, each with its own perimeter, as its different intersection with the oval surface. Taking into account the lack of clear alignments, this whole structure was conceived as a large three-dimensional metallic latticework (always of triangular modules), which allowed the structure to be adjusted to the architectural geometry from a stable and relatively light scheme.

Regarding the construction of the buried auditorium, the challenge was, fundamentally, the removal of the prestressed slab / floor that balances the lateral thrusts of the main structure of the Ágora building. To do this, several alternative thrust balance systems were proposed, through the use of active soil anchors and / or micropiles.
