The old hospital of Santa Magdalena is a historic building located in the Montblanc, belonging to the Conca de Barberà region of Tarragona. It is a Gothic building built between the XV and XVI centuries.

The current use of the building is the municipal archives of the region. The origin of the work is based on the intention of the Montblanc Regional Council to use one of the existing floors as a storage and archiving area of ??documentation, and their need to place compact storage cabinets.

Windmill assessed the load capacity of a floor in the first floor of the building. This floor is composed, on the one hand, of reinforced concrete joists in situ and embedded in walls of masonry of great thickness.

Notable is the presence of an edge vault, which supports, consequently, on masonry walls, in charge of supporting the lateral thrust of said structural element.

In order to carry out the work, tests were made in order to discover the different materials, dimensions and location of the constructive elements that make up the structure. From the data collection, two different types of analysis have been performed. On the one hand, to evaluate the loading capacity of the unidirectional slab, a nonlinear evolutionary analysis of a section of the slab has been carried out; and with respect to the edge vault, an estimative study of the distribution of tensions was carried out, in the presence of an asymmetric load on this element.
